Joshua Mejia (he/him)
DIRECTOR
Driven by a passion for community and social impact, Joshua is dedicated to making a difference however he can. Along with this board, Joshua also serves as the Treasurer of the SB Urban Creeks Collective, where he helps support environmental stewardship and sustainability efforts.
Joshua has called Santa Barbara home for 11 years. During his time here, he has earned an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from SBCC and a Bachelor's degree in Language, Culture, and Society from UCSB. As a student, he served as the Program Coordinator at the St. George Youth Center, designing and leading engaging programs for teens in Isla Vista. His passion for mentorship led him to work in childcare and youth development as an SBUSD Multi lingual Para Educator and STEM science camp counselor. He also joined UCSB’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as an Intern, where he helped foster inclusive and welcoming spaces on campus.
Now, Joshua serves as the Financial Coordinator for UCSB’s Department of Sociology, bringing his organizational and leadership skills to equity-driven work into the financial realm.
Outside of work and his community involvement, Joshua enjoys spending time outdoors—gardening, hiking, walking along the beach, and exploring the neighborhood with his dog, Mr. T.
