Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation
Working as a Family Resource Specialist with Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation for families of children with cancer gives me the opportunity to work closely with each family, listen to their needs and provide the assistance they need at that very moment thru our core programs and/or connecting them with other agencies to alleviate some of the stressors that occur while their child is battling cancer. Claudia, a recently widowed mother of three was unable to work to be able to take her child to treatment, and was unable to pay rent for one month. This was causing stress not knowing what could happen if rent was not paid. With our partnership with Starfish Connection, they were able to cover their month’s rent, alleviating some of the stress so she can focus on her children and child’s treatment.
This family was very thankful to Starfish Connection as it brought her peace of mind knowing that her children would have a place to live, not worry about rent that month and truly focus on her children.
